SALUTATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

* PASSING OF THE PEACE

* Sanctus (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP                                               Dorien Day

     In Christ, the God of heaven has made his home on earth.

     Christ dwells among us and is one with us.

     Highest of all creation, he lives among the least.

     He journeys with the rejected and welcomes the weary.

     Come now, all who thirst,

     and drink the water of life.

     Come now, all who hunger,

     and be filled with the goodness of God.

* HYMN No. 381 Come, Ye Thankful People, Come

 PRAYER OF CONFESSION

      Merciful God,

      in baptism you grafted us into the body of Christ,

      promising us forgiveness of sin and newness of life.

      But we fail to live as forgiven people.

      We keep destructive habits and hold grudges.

      We allow our past to hold us hostage

      and are reluctant to welcome newness.

      In your loving-kindness

      have mercy on us and free us from sin.

      Remind us of the promises you have made to us in

      Baptism so that we may live as your people,

      claimed in the waters of promise.

      (Prayers of Silent Confession)

      Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

      Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have

      mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

       Friends, hear the good news!

       Though we are unworthy,

       we are granted God’s favor in Jesus Christ

       and are baptized into the church of his beloved Son.

       Friends, believe the good news!

       In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

ANTHEM                            God Bless America             Irving Berlin

Soloist - Maureen Saepia-Chen

    While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,

    let us swear allegiance to a land that's free.

    Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,

    as we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

    God bless America, Land that I love.

    Stand beside her, and guide her,

    through the night with a light from above.

    From the mountains, to the prairies,

    to the oceans white with foam, God bless America

    My home, sweet home, God bless America

    My home, sweet home.

JUNIOR SERMON

(After the Junior Sermon children should remain in the Sanctuary as there will be no Children & Worship today.)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, you have shown us the way of life

through your Son, Jesus Christ.

We confess with shame our slowness to learn of him,

our failure to follow him, and our reluctance to bear the cross.

Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us.

(Prayers of Silent Confession)

Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON/WISDOM FOR LIFE

When the goodness and loving kindness

of God our Savior appeared, Christ saved us,

not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy,

through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. God poured out this Spirit on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

so that, having been justified by his grace,

we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

ANTHEM                                                                     Judy W. Lindh

                   If Thou But Suffer God to Guide Thee

If thou but suffer God to guide thee,

And hope in Him through all thy ways,

He'll give thee strength, whate'er betide thee,

And bear thee through the evil days;

Who trusts in God's unchanging love

Builds on the Rock that naught can move.

Only be still and wait His leisure

In cheerful hope, with heart content

To take whate'er thy Father's pleasure

And all discerning love hath sent;

Nor doubt our in-most are known.

To Him who chose us for His own.

Sing, pray, and keep His ways unswerving;

In all thy labor faithful be,

And trust His Word, though undeserving,

Thou yet shalt find it true for thee;

God never yet forsook in need.

The soul that trusts in Him indeed.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

If, at times, we deny or forget you, God forgive us.

When we wash our hands of responsibility:

God forgive us.

When fear keeps us from witnessing to your truth,

or prejudice keeps us from believing it:

God forgive us.

In the bright afterglow of Easter,

our sin is exposed,

but your grace is revealed.

Tender God,

raise us in your love so that, with joy,

we may witness to Jesus Christ.

Bless God’s holy name.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquity,

Who heals all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from the pit,

Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

Who satisfies you with good as long as you live,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

ANTHEM        The Lord is My Shepherd              Howard Goodall

                       Soloist - Maureen Saepia-Chen

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want;

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leads me beside the still waters.

Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death, I fear no evil:

For you are with me, you will comfort me.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life: and I will dwell

in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayer of Illumination

O living Lord, come to us, we pray, in your risen power

and make us glad with your presence,

and so breathe your Holy Spirit into our hearts

that we may be strong to serve you

and spread abroad your good news,

for the glory of your great name. Amen.
