PRELUDE           Prelude and Fugue in c#-minor     J.S. Bach

* Sanctus (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP                                               Dorien Day

In Christ, the God of heaven has made his home on earth.

Christ dwells among us and is one with us.

Highest of all creation, he lives among the least.

He journeys with the rejected and welcomes the weary.

     Come now, all who thirst,

and drink the water of life.

     Come now, all who hunger,

and be filled with the goodness of God.

* HYMN No. 381 Come, Ye Thankful People, Come

      Merciful God,

in baptism you grafted us into the body of Christ,

promising us forgiveness of sin and newness of life.

But we fail to live as forgiven people.

We keep destructive habits and hold grudges.

We allow our past to hold us hostage

and are reluctant to welcome newness.

      In your loving-kindness

have mercy on us and free us from sin.

Remind us of the promises you have made to us in

Baptism so that we may live as your people,

claimed in the waters of promise.

      (Prayers of Silent Confession)

Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have

      mercy. Lord, have mercy.

       Friends, hear the good news!

       Though we are unworthy,

we are granted God’s favor in Jesus Christ

and are baptized into the church of his beloved Son.

       Friends, believe the good news!

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

ANTHEM                            God Bless America             Irving Berlin

Soloist - Maureen Saepia-Chen

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,

let us swear allegiance to a land that's free.

Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,

as we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God bless America, Land that I love.

Stand beside her, and guide her,

through the night with a light from above.

From the mountains, to the prairies,

to the oceans white with foam, God bless America

My home, sweet home, God bless America

    My home, sweet home.

     Lord’s Prayer (pew card)

Response Lord,Jesus Think on Me              William Damon’s Psalms

Lord Jesus, think on me

nor let me go astray;

through darkness and perplexity

point thou the heavenly way.

HYMN No. 45                       Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Prayer of Illumination

Glory be to you, O God,

whom we worship in awe and wonder.

You are the author of all beginnings

and all that is pronounced “good.”

In you both day and night have purpose,

both calm and storm have meaning.

Open the eyes of our imagination,

that we may be ready to receive your gifts

and discern your activity in our midst.

In the name of Jesus,

in whose baptism we too are baptized. Amen

Psalm  73                                                                   p. 465

Romans  11:33-12:2                                                    p. 922

This is the Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Do you promise to love, encourage, and support

this beloved sister, by teaching the gospel of God’s love,

By being an example of Christian faith and character, and

By giving the strong support of God’s family

In fellowship, prayer, and service?

We do!

Charlotte Rose Gonzalez has been received

into the one holy catholic and apostolic church through baptism.

God has made her a member of the household of God,

to share with us the priesthood of Christ.

Let us welcome the newly baptized.

With joy and thanksgiving

to share with us in his ministry,

for we are all one in Christ.
