PRELUDE: Pathetique Sonata - Movement II Beethoven

* SANCTUS (pew card)

* CALL TO WORSHIP Michaela Buscher

Praise the Lord.
The Lord’s name be praised!
We will give thanks to you, O LORD, with our whole heart;
we will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
We will be glad and exult in you;
we will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

* HYMN No. 802 Brethren, We Have Met to Worship

Lord, you are a God who keeps promises.
In our prayers and songs we say
that we want to be Christians,
but then we forget our promises.
Our actions do not match up with our words.
We say mean things to other people,
we hurt their feelings,
we think of ourselves first,
and, worst of all, we ignore you.

(Prayers of Silent Confession)
Kyrie (sung): Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he
loved us, made us alive together with Christ.
By grace we have been saved!
For we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!

ANTHEM: Youth Choir                A Family Song             Joseph M. Martin

Sing a song for family, a gift from God's own heart.
For parents who have loved you, and gave your life its start.
For brothers and for sisters, for dear ones near and far;
I will sing a song to tell them just how wonderful they are.
Thank you, God, for family, a gift so rich and fair.
Precious are the moments, the years we have to share.
All along life's journey, no matter where we go,
We will always treasure the memories of home.
Families all are different, just look around and see.
Love is the true measure of who is family.
So, whether it's a parent, a teacher or a friend,
We can all be family, sharing love that never ends.
A love that never ends.

* HYMN No. 84 Children of the Heavenly Father

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION            Kerry Bracken

Lord God, may your Word be a lamp to our feet
and a light to our path through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Psalm 138 Joshua Menendez
2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 Thomas Aiello

This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

SERMON:                      Doing Something Better Always                  Alisha Riepma

Belhar Confession, Article 3

We believe that God has entrusted the church with the
message of reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ;
that the church is called to be the salt of the earth and the
of the world; that the church is witness both by word and
by deed to the new heaven and new earth in which
righteousness dwells.

Offertory:                       Joy in the Morning                 Natalie Sleeth

Joy, there'll be joy in the morning on that day.
For the daylight will dawn
when the darkness is gone.

There'll be peace evermore,
Every heart and voice will then rejoice,
and the glory of the Lord will shine,
and the glory of the Lord
will bring divine,

There'll be love and forgiveness everywhere,
and the way of the Lord
will that day be restored,
there'll be love, sweet love everywhere.

* The Doxology (pew card)

* Prayer of Dedication Kevin Bracken

* HYMN No. 40 Let the Whole Creation Cry

May the love of God surround you
Everywhere you may go.
