* CALL TO WORSHIP                                                      Bill Smith

Come, you ransomed of the LORD. Return and come into God’s presence with songs and everlasting joy upon your head. Here you shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Come, let us let us sing to the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

* HYMN No. 358                         Eternal Father, Strong to Save

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, our judge and redeemer, we confess that we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong. We have lived for ourselves, and apart from you. We have turned from our neighbors, and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments; through Jesus Christ our Savior.

(Silent Prayers of Confession)

Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* CONFESSION OF FAITH

       From the Belhar Confession, Article 4

We believe that the church must therefore stand by people in any form of suffering and need, which implies, among other things, that the church must witness against and strive against any form of injustice, so that justice may roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream;

We believe that the church as the possession of God must stand where the Lord stands, namely against injustice and with the wronged; that in following Christ the church must witness against all the powerful and privileged who selfishly seek their own interests and thus control and harm others.

OFFERING OURSELVES AND OUR GIFTS

       Offertory:            I Shall Not Be Moved          Alice Parker

Glory Hallelujah, I shall not be moved,

Anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved,

Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,

I shall not be moved.

In his love abiding, I shall not be moved,

And in him confiding, I shall not be moved,

Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,

I shall not be moved.

Though all hell assail me, I shall not be moved,

Jesus will not fail me, I shall not be moved,

Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,

I shall not be moved.

Though the tempest rages, I shall not be moved,

On the rock of ages, I shall not be moved,

Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,

I shall not be moved.
