ANTHEM: From the Rising of the Sun F. A. Gore Ouseley

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same my Name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered up unto my Name: for my Name shall be great among the heathen, thus saith the Lord!

JUNIOR SERMON

MORNING PRAYER AND LORD’S PRAYER
Lord’s Prayer (pew card)
Prayer response                   G.F. Handel

Lord, I trust thee, I adore thee, Ah! Thou friend of man, restore me!  On thy loving grace relying, for the bread of life I'm sighing. Quench my thirst and let my hunger cease, fill my heart with joy and endless peace. When the breath of life has left me, may my soul be blended with thee.

* HYMN No. 579                    I Surrender All

SCRIPTURE LESSONS

Psalm 113: 1-9 Pew Bible, pg. 491

Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of theLord.
Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time on and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised.
The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high,
who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!

Luke 15: 1-10 Pew Bible, pg. 850

Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So he told them this parable: “Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. “Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

The Word of God for the people of God. Let the people of God say - AMEN!

Leader: What is your only comfort in life and in death?

All:  That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, He also watches over me in such a way  and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.  that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

* HYMN No. 641 All the Way My Savior Leads Me

* BENEDICTION TO EACH OTHER

Go now in the strength of the Lord Jesus Christ, who appoints us for service and makes us faithful.

Response, Martin Shaw

And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost be upon you, and remain with you forever. Amen.
