Our History
From our humble store front beginnings in 1927 with 69 charter members, to today's beautiful sanctuary and educational building, the Church on the Hill has been truly blessed over the years by the leadership of its pastors. The Reverend Bradley J. Folensbee had the vision to begin our church. In 1941 he was followed by the Reverend John C. DeMaagd who brought guidance and comfort to us during the difficult war years. The Reverend Frederick R. Bosch was called in 1947, leading us in two successful building programs. In 1970 our fourth pastor was called, the Reverend Robert A. Perless. He led us wisely with his inspirational sermons, and served us with his special gifts of compassion, humility and genuine love for people until he retired in September 2005. Our search for an Interim Minister brought the Rev Baron L. Ashfield into our midst. He provided the comfort, counseling and motivation to "move us forward" during this time of change. We, as a congregation, needed to have someone lead us on the path to new beginnings, as we searched for our new "shepherd". He worked with us, educated us and strengthened us as a unified congregation of believers, preparing us for our new minister and our period of discernment in this process. He served us well from the time Rev. Perless retired in 2005, until our new minister, Rev. Justin J. Meyers, joined us in June of 2007.
